This exhibition gathers for the first time Marc Riboud and Bruno Barbey. They had a 20 years age difference but it did not forbid them to the friends during their long photographer’s lives. Many things brought them together: the taste of storytelling, the desire to go back to the countries they loved, like China for both of them, Morocco and Poland for Bruno, Cambodia and Huang Shan mountains for Marc. The need to understand the changes of their time, in Algeria, Vietnam, Russia and of course in France during May 68 riots.

Both members of Magnum Photos, at a time when the agency was at the center of their lives, they enjoyed, back from their reportages, to show each other the photographs they took, going to their apartments, as neighbors and friends.

They shared the taste for visual beauty, harmony of forms and – later for Marc – the importance of colours. Their photographs, each in their own way, reflect to us the image of a beautiful, complex and fragile world.

The exhibition will include 77 prints of photographs by Marc Riboud, ment by Guimet – National Museum of Asian Arts, Paris.
